The Top Ten Most Awesome Siblings

It's that time of the month again. The time to make long lists that concerns unimportant things and introduce more entropy to the general system! The list now concerns the chemistry and bond between ten of the best siblings i've ever came across. Without further ado... let's go.


10. The Dumbledores - Albus, Aberforth, & Ariana
Strong magic run in this family, although in varying degrees of control. Albus was naturally the leader with the best mix of power and control, but Aberforth wasn't all that out of control (although arguably the weakest of the three), either. Ariana gets the biggest chunk of power, although the price is her sanity. Too bad they are lacking quite a bit in sibling chemistry, in part because of their independent actions, their conflicting outlooks, and two of them being dead.

9. The Tao Siblings - Ren & Jun
What makes this magic-users better than The Dumbledores? HOT BLOOD. Seriously, just look at Ren's hot-bloodedness... it made her power second only to Yoh, at least in the team. And you just can't beat Jun's hawtness. Too bad, she's taken... well at least in the 'spirit' sense of things, with the handsome (although quite dead) Lee Bailong watching in silent vigil beside her. Over all that volatile trait however, these two are actually quite close. Jun had the air of the loving sister, while Ren, although covers it up with all bluster at first, gradually accepts the unique brand of familial love.

8. The Prismrivers - Lunasa, Merlin, Lyrica, & Layla
Their bond of sisterhood endures even death... well, actually not quite. Although there were three real siblings to Layla, the current three were only the product of Layla's brew of memory, imagination, and magical power. Thanks to Layla's effort though, Lunasa, Lyrica, and Merlin are granted eternal life... even if it's only as poltergeists in the Prismriver's mansion. In effect, the three ghosts are inseparable athough they each have a distinct personality.

7. The Nicknamed Siblings - Kyon and his Sister
A tad perplexing in naming this siblings... since they have no canonical name! Well, anyway... living amongst fearsome beings does not take the ordinariness away of these two people. Kyon still takes care of his sister, and his sister is still the silly yet cute little sister thirsting for her brother's attention. In the world of nigh-omnipotent being, these two's ordinariness gave refreshing respite over the antics of Haruhi Suzumiya and the high politics that follows on its wake.

6. The Skywalkers - Luke & Leia
This duet embodied the paragons of Lawful Good, really. Leia was the wiser among the two at the beginning, but Luke catches up quickly with his Jedi 101 course he took at Dagobah. In the end, the two became legendary characters at their own right; Luke at the field of Force use and piloting, while Leia took the diplomatic side of things. Nevertheless, their bond remains strong, and Luke even imparted some of his skill in Lightsaber and Force use to Leia, making her a good fighter in her own right.

5. The SEED Siblings - Kira & Cagalli
Entering the top 5 of this list... meet the two berserker in the family. Twins separated from birth, Kira Yamato and Cagalli Yula Attha lead different lives until war united them under a common banner. The so-called "Jesus" Yamato meeting the hot-headed tsundere Cagalli results in epic battles, warm reunions, and heartfelt good-byes. Of course, Kira's materful piloting also rubs off at his twin sis, even making her the sole unaltered Natural capable of entering the otherworldly realm of SEED mode.

4. The Son Brothers - Gohan & Goten
"The apple does not fall far from the tree" adage is the perfect one in describing these two. While they are sons of a world savior, they do not grow lazy and complacent... they went on and saved the world too. Gohan saved the world by trumping Cell, and Goten's role was not that small in the fight against Majin Buu. Outside of battles, their brothers' chemistry was quite strong too. Gohan even helped Goten attain the much-coveted Super Saiyan state.

3. The Gondor princes - Boromir & Faramir
The beautiful synergy of this otherwise-standard fairytale princely duo earned them the third notch in this list. While they faced discrimination on the eye of their father (Boromir was vastly more favored), it does not rend this duo apart. Boromir watches over and guided Faramir, while Faramir does not sit idle and continually strives to prove himself. The adding effect results in a wonderful brotherhood between the two. Oh, and by the way, read the novels. The Filmamir is somewhat of a jerk that does not really portray the chemistry in the book.

2. The Bransteins - Raidiese & Elzam
There's only little chance to top this brothers... both are masterful pilots, both are extremely handsome, and both are of noble birth. Rai is the more silent of the duo, but El is the more lively and calculating. No surprise, really, since beside being a well-respected commander of battleship Kurogane, El is also a world-class chef... talk about desirable widower. Well, Rai would have to be content on being the straight man, both to his brother's and his team-mate's comedic antics.

1. The Scarlets - Remilia & Flandre
Well then, what did they have to be able to top the gorgeous Bransteins? Cuteness, of course... a commodity that the Scarlets had in abundance. However, cuteness is not their only weapon; besides being cute, this duet just happen to be elder vampires with vast powers at their fingertips. Flandre is the powerhouse in this duet, with her dominion over destruction and possession of Laevatainn (it can burn the world, you know). However, Remilia is more than a force to be reckoned with, her Gungnir and gift of prescience at her disposal. Their connection is in a strain, however, but that does not reduce the fact that Remilia still cares for her little sister by 'playing' with her in occasions.
